Title: Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship
Series: The Perfect Pairing Series #1
Author: Parker Fairchild
Publication Date: November 17th 2020
Print Length: 264 pages
Genre: Contemporary Holiday Romance
~
Chemist and budding romance writer Olivia Chasen is on a cruise to avoid spending Christmas with her beautiful twin sister and new fiancĂ©—Olivia’s ex. Now, thanks to her lonely, intoxicated ramblings on Santa’s lap, her fellow passengers think she’s in love with a fictional character.

Former Navy SEAL Commander Jace Morse has dealt with plenty of unusual situations in his career, but he’s never had the honor, the pleasure, or the privilege of being a beautiful and intelligent woman’s fantasy hero come to life. While he hasn’t officially met the sexy chemist, he’s sure eager to explore the chemistry that’s sizzling between them.

Bringing the charming SEAL together with the skeptical Olivia is going to take more than just Christmas cookies and a little help from Mrs. Claus; it’s gonna take a heaping dose of Christmas magic.

EXCERPT:
“Dr. Olivia Chasen,” Santa’s jolly baritone popped her mental fuzzy bubble.

She stopped as she struggled to whirl around. “Me?” She touched her chest with a dramatic flourish she didn’t know she possessed.

A powerful spotlight illuminated her; its heat burned her already flushed face. She pressed a clammy palm to her chest. “How do you know my name?” The haze in her mind was paralyzing all cognitive function.

“My dear girl,” Santa chuckled, “you should know by now that Santa knows everything and everyone,” he tapped an index finger to his temple.

Santa Claus turned to address the waiting line. “Girls, Boys, Moms, Dads, everyone, if you don't mind waiting for a brief moment, I'd like for Olivia,” he pointed a white gloved finger at her, “to please come up here on stage, and tell me what she wants for Christmas.”

She stood dumbfounded as the audience and the people in line clapped and chanted her name, “Olivia! Olivia! Olivia!”

Oh no! What was she going to do? She couldn’t possibly go up onto that stage. She was far too shy to address a theater full of people. But if she didn’t go that would be so unexciting and so like the old Olivia. But she wasn't unexciting! She was the new Olivia, and she was exciting! And she wanted to have fun! Correction: She was determined to have fun. Besides, she’d never see these people—her fellow passengers—ever again.

GUEST POST:
- Where did the idea for this book come from?

Serendipity. I’ll explain.

I wrote the outline for this novel while on a Caribbean cruise some years ago. Upon returning home, I put it aside for a large work project. Then, on a cruise to Hawaii, I met my husband-to-be, Jason, on a tender going into Maui. This chance meeting was love at first sight.

I’d just finished writing a memoir for a client when the COVID pandemic hit. At the same time, my mom had just finished reading a book that she loved written by an author who was new to her. While reading more about her, my mom discovered that this author owned a publishing company—5 Prince Publishing. Further investigation revealed that they were looking for Christmas submissions.

Since we were in quarantine, my mom suggested that I use this time and complete one of my unfinished books that lived on my computer. Because those early days of COVID were difficult and sad for the entire world, she suggested I finish my Christmas book, which would help to cheer us up, and submit it to 5 Prince Publishing, which was seeking holiday novels.

So, with my new hubby as inspiration for my hero, I dove in, and as they say, the rest is history and Serendipity all the way. Thank you, Princess Cruises, for playing host to Jason’s and my grand romance; you truly are “The Love Boat.”

Come, and sail along with Olivia and Jace on the Serendipity and celebrate their love story as it unfolds in “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship.”

    1. Nancy, thank you for being here today with me on my Book Tour. Olivia, my heroine, loves clothes, so I can’t wait for you to read “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship” and see all the styles of clothing she brings with her. With the tropical temps, bathing suits are typically the order of the day in the Caribbean. I loved writing this book and being able to share my own cruise experiences with my heroine and hero. Throughout the book, my characters are involved in many cruise and Caribbean themed activities, and their clothing reflects what they're doing. Through my book, I hope to be able to offer my readers a fun, holiday, tropical escape.

    1. I began my book, “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” some years ago while I was on a holiday cruise in the Caribbean. Then, while quarantining during COVID, my mom suggested that it would be an excellent opportunity for me to revive my Christmas story and complete it. Once 5 Prince Publishing accepted my manuscript for publication, I spent a month doing edits with their in-house editor.

    1. My mom recently lost her sister to breast cancer. Her last name was ‘Morse’. So, to honor her, I gave the surname of ‘Morse’ to my hero Jace. As for the rest of the names, I don’t really have a set system. If I get stuck or need inspiration, I’ll turn to one of the many baby name directories on the internet.
