Ganina is a young girl with love to give, but giving it may cost her life.

Given to a famous old warlord to seal a treaty between two tribes, Ganina is a young girl with love to give. But Atulfa is old enough to be her grandfather. Then Atulfa and his oldest son die under mysterious circumstances and it is rumored that a younger son, Senec, has arranged their deaths.

Left without the old man’s protection, Ganina is fodder for the vicious torment of his other wives. She has no choice but to cast her lot with Senec.

Whatever he is, he is the new warlord and she is now at his mercy.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
He looked sidelong at the girl sitting obediently in the place he had given her. Her father was a man with a large following, but the girl represented riches of a different sort. Women of the southern tribes suffered by comparison. Dark as half-baked dough to shield them from relentless sun, with round brown eyes that saw well in darkness and spare frames ideally suited to a hard land, they had never appealed to him. There was much of his mother in Senec and the reddish hair, fair skin and clear gray eyes of his father’s youngest widow drew him.

She could not be more than twenty. Her hair was gracefully coiffed; her neck was a marble column below a perfectly symmetrical oval face. She had a broad brow, wide set intelligent eyes and a mouth made for kissing. One could have dressed her in a sack and the fine lines of her body would still have been visible. Though the women had done their best to make her cower, Ganina still bore herself with pride that would distinguish his house. He felt a pleasant stirring of the loins each time he looked at her...too pleasant to give her away.

“You will move your things to my tent this night,” he told her in a low voice.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Fantasy poetry driven by myths and legends has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I was published in poetry before catching the romance writing bug. I bring that background to my writing along with a lifelong addiction to horses, an 18 year career in various areas of psychiatric social services and many trips to Ireland, where I nurture my muse. My published works range from contemporary fantasy romance to fantasy historical, futuristic, science fiction and historical romance. Currently I live in rural Pennsylvania with a “motley crew” of rescue animals.

    1. Thank you, Nancy. The book itself is a bit unique, for a romance, as I set it against a fantasy background that draws heavily on the nomadic tribes and steppe warfare in our own history. So it is not a gentle culture, nor is the male protagonist your standard romance hero. The cover reflects that and I loved it.
