Pete Brooks can’t believe he’s waited an entire year for Jess Tagg to return to Montana, only to have her break his heart by getting engaged to her ex-fiancĂ©. Worse, a series of mistakes on the job have cost lives, and Pete isn’t sure he wants to continue to work in Search and Rescue. Maybe if he can just get over Jess, he can figure out how to move forward.

EMT Jess Tagg has returned to Montana to finally give her heart to Pete, but it seems he’s no longer interested. When a terrible fight between them sparks an impulsive decision, she finds herself crashed on the side of a highway along with Esme Shaw. And just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse, she and Esme are taken captive and into the untamed Montana wilderness—with murderous intent.

Now Pete and the other PEAK Rescue Team members are in a race against time, the elements, and the actions of a vengeful man. Pete will have to use everything he’s learned to find Jess and Esme—and pray that his past mistakes don’t cost him the life of the woman he can’t stop loving.

Why did you choose to write romance?
I love writing epic romantic adventure! I think it stems from my own desire to do fun, adventurous things, and I love going on the journey with the characters. But I also love seeing the courage and determination and truths that emerge when someone is put into a challenging situation. Such a great opportunity for my character to rise above and be more than they thought they could be. It inspires me to do the same.

Where did your love of storytelling come from?
I am sure that it is something inside of me—I’ve been writing stories all my life, (I wrote my first novel when I was fourteen!). There’s just something about a great story that inspires me, that not only entertains, but if it’s the right book, also edifies and makes me a better person. Stories change lives…and I guess that’s how I make my own little impact on the world.

How does your book relate to your inner-self?
All my books contain something of myself in them—a question, a searching for truth, an experience I’d like to explore. I start with a what-if question, something that the characters are wondering, but also something that stirs inside me, and then I set off on a journey to explore the ramifications of that what-if. What if you had to rescue someone who broke your heart—and the person he/she left you for? This is the question I asked in Wait for Me, my newest book, and I dealt with betrayal, forgiveness, commitment and second chances. I think all great stories come from the questions we ask ourselves…and the search for answers.

What was the hardest part of writing Wait for Me?
This is the finale book in the series, so I had a lot of writing outside this story. Not only did I have to create a unique adventure, but it had to wrap up all the threads in the series—not just the current relationship, but an ongoing mystery, a few other relationship threads and the overall theme of the series. I love finale books because they can be so satisfying, but it takes tremendous attention to all the details. I love it when I get a letter from a reader that I nailed it though, and I’m so excited for readers to finally get the ending they’ve waited so long for.

What did you enjoy most about writing Wait for Me?
I loved seeing the fruition of all the adventures, and relationships find their happy ending. (and I love hanging out with these characters, so any chance I get to go on an adventure with them, I’ll take it!)

Are you a full-time or part-time writer? How does that affect your writing?
I’m a full-time writer. I love to write, so some could say I’m a write-o-holic, but I’m okay with that. I love to dive into a great story, and not only hang out with the characters, but weave the right words to evoke emotion and pull my reader into an encompassing story. I think not having the distraction of other work allows me a singular focus as a writer to dive in and simply live in that world for a while. (and then I emerge and join “real life” for a few weeks between stories!) I have real respect for writers who also work an outside job…they amaze me with their dedication and focus!

Do you have a mantra for writing and/or for life?
Writing isn’t magic…it’s hard work. Do the work and the magic will happen.
